Can Rangers really turn down £20m for Alfredo Morelos?

Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos looks set to be thrust into the middle of a £20m transfer tussle this January with Aston Villa and Crystal Palace both heavily linked with the player. Villa were the first side to be freshly linked to the Colombian [Football Insider], with manager Dean Smith telling reporters to “watch this space”…

Let’s be realistic about this. An offer of £20m+ would be silly to turn down. As much as we all want to see Alfredo at Ibrox long term, the money for the sale of him would go a long way towards getting us back to the top of Scottish football. We payed peanuts for Morelos, and I’m sure some of the money would be invested in replacing him with someone just as good, if not better, than Morelos is. It might free up extra funds to put into other areas of the squad, and with other developments around the club proposed, there would be a good chunk of money available to make it happen. The target isn’t to stop the other team in Glasgow getting 9 in a row, they’ve done it before so they’d only be equalling that record that both clubs have set. The target is to stop 10 in a row! Yes, the league title this season would be a great achievement, of course it would, but next season is the season that needs to be targeted both on AND off the field for various reasons, and that kind of money simply cannot be turned down if we are to become the force we once we’re!

Alfredo has been great for Rangers and Rangers has been great for Alfredo. However, a £20M+ offer cannot be refused for the sake of both parties. Once away, Alfredo will realise just how big a club Rangers really are but he goes with my best wishes and a 20% sell on fee. We will of course need a replacement with Jermain’s age but holding on to Jermain too will be crucial for us to get our hands on the League title that we are all craving for. As his swansong, Alfredo can leave with a League Cup winners medal. Keep believing. WATP.

He’ll still be worth £20M+ in the summer so aye we can turn it down easy enough. The player means more to us than the money at least till the seasons over a. It’ll take more than that to get a replacement!

Part of the problem is Morelos wants Premiership football. Even if a bid of 10 million is made in January and we refuse it we may have an unhappy discontented player, his form dips we lose the league, his price dips even more and we are left with a guy in the summer worth less than he was in January. If a bid comes in we should take it, no point keeping someone who has made it clear he wants premiership football in England or another top league more than likely his form will dip if we stop him moving.

This will be a tricky one as selling Alfie could cost us the league and the fans will be unhappy if that happens .I suspect that a bid of £ 20million plus add ons from an EPL club will be accepted if Alfie wants it but we will have to invest some of the money on an experienced goalscoring centre forward .Not Shankland , just before you write another article about him.

How much would it cost for Cosgrove?
