Borna Barisic's injury isn't a big blow for Rangers against Villarreal

Borna Barisic’s injury continues to rule him out of key matches, and tomorrow night against Villarreal is no different. Rangers are going to have to do without their number one left-back once again. The game tomorrow night comes to soon for Barisic, with Steven Gerrard confirming his injury on Twitter. Barisic has now missed over…

Agree that it is not a big blow but for me its not good we have him out. I am glad we have Flanagan and Halliday for for the position and if really stuck Wallace may also be able to step in, my main concern is what happens if Tavernier gets injured if I was Gerrard I would be looking for cover in this area in January. For Thursday would like to see Grezda involved at some point players like him need games and momentum to stay sharp and fit and its not happening.

It’s definitely not good considering he’s the number one left-back just now. If he was back from injury though I don’t think tomorrow night would’ve been the time to bring him back. Halliday has proven to be very capable this year, so think Barisic should just take his time and make sure he’s fully fit before returning.

I totally agree about Tavernier. I’ve written pieces before about Gerrard needing to cover this area. Maybe he’s thinking he doesn’t need to because Jon Flanagan is available to play there? He looks seriously uncomfortable down the left, but might be more capable down the right when cover is needed. Think Tavernier may have still kept up his record of playing every game this season, which is crazy!
