Steven Gerrard spoke about the need for “more protection” from referees in the wake of Rangers’ stumbling draw with Kilmarnock this weekend. In that, Gerrard wasn’t shifting blame as many in Scottish football have seen it. He’s merely pointing out the obvious. When I seen the likes of Gary Dicker’s comments, I about spat cereal…
Unfortunately, teams who lack skills tend to try to make up for it by physical intimidation. It has been going on for years. In the English Premier, Watford and Burnley last year would be good examples.
Aberdeen and Killie are the pair from the SPL that shine out as escapees from Edinburgh Zoo. No skills just musclebound bullies!
The only way to deal with it, is to have a few strong men of our own. That should start with the Captain…if it was boxing, our captain wouldn’t show up at the weigh in!! Going back some years, people like John Greig ( fantastic footballer) would have sorted it out…“if you want it that way, here it is!!” It’d soon stop!
Apart from McGregor and Goldson, I can’t see the players who’ll stand up, when the going gets tough!
