I love Andy Halliday. He will never be one of the better players in our team. We will always have more skilful options in every position he can play.
But he is a fan in a jersey, living our dream. He would die for that jersey. He didn’t want to leave the pitch, to break the spell. We sang his name and he will take that sound to his grave.
Most of us would die for that. He will never give in. He is “No Surrender”
Luckily, Gerrard understands that clubs need local players, Liverpool have always done this. Halliday is that local who loves the club, his stature in the dressing room and the fact the manager has praised him, has seen his confidence soar.
He was outstanding against, Celtic, from his first tackle to ‘that’ block at the end, he put everything into the game.
