Ally McCoist has opened up on his spell as Rangers manager, during the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast Show, on TalkSPORT. The 56-year-old was a hero on the pitch across 15 years at Ibrox. He’s still the club’s record goalscorer, netting over 250 times in the league. McCoist celebrates scoring against Aberdeen at Ibrox in 1992.…
Loved Ally the player, but he had the chance as manager to wipe the slate clean, bring in a couple of decent players like Wallace and McCulloch the bolster a team of young, hungry players who would gain experience as they went through the leagues. Instead he overpaid some journeymen so horrendous I cannot bring myself to type their names.
He gets immense credit for staying, for holding it all together at a horrible time of stress.
Super Ally the player, magnificent Ally the leader in a crisis, a good commentator/analyst, but not a good manager.
