Alex Rae has spoken out about recent developments at Rangers, as quoted by the Daily Record. First and foremost, despite a difficult couple of weeks, the ex-Ger believes Gerrard is the right man for the job. It’s been a tough couple of weeks, but there’s still plenty of support for Gerrard. Glad to hear this! I’ve said on here before that we need to tighten up the back line. If you’re not giving away simple goals, it’ll be easier to win matches!!

We not only need a another quality Centre Back, we need two proper full backs. At the moment, we’ve got no permanent left back…one Croatian who’s in and out injured… and Andy Halliday, who gives everything for the cause, but isn’t a real left back? On the other side, we’ve got “Skippy” who thinks he should be the main man in the forward line, but is absolutely useless defending…because he’s up field, and the Central Defenders are under pressure trying to cover his gap??

Glad that someone like Alex has come out and pointed to the defence problem!

Obvious answer is to play three at the back, Tavernier and Kent on the wings and a 3-5-2 formation. McCrorie drops back, play one defensively minded midfielder and two offensively minded. Two strikers, in tandem or one behind the other. Voila. Trouble is we would need to find a quality forward and at least one if not two No 10s

It’d be worth a try, provided we can find another good defender to go with Goldson and McCrorie.
Still don’t think it’ll work, as we need to be able to play 4-4-2 at times( some would say most times) in SPL.

Comment on “Skippy” still stands!
