Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has admitted the importance of protecting his young central defenders so he doesn’t “ruin them” – and insists he is looking forward to seeing how George Edmundson “blossoms” at Ibrox. Edmundson has started the last two games for the Gers, with some fans blaming him for Hamilton’s goal in yesterday’s 4-1…

Edmundson is going to be really good! Yesterday, he was faced with an artificial surface and he didn’t look as surefooted as he did on Wednesday on grass! He’s not he first to be hailed “hero” on Wednesday and then slated for a poor performance on the plastic…remember Worrall last year at Livingston…looked like he’d never played football, but had been very good in the previous match on grass!

Given the fact we have to play so many games on plastic it may be wise to do training on one before we go to those grounds I think they are part and parcel of life in the league now and we need to adapt to the surface since it will never be outlawed.
